Eqstra reports improved interim results in a tough market to December 2011

Market conditions remained challenging

oContract Mining and Plant Rental’s Benga project in Mozambique continued to deliver good results, although the division was negatively impacted by industrial action in the domestic market
oConstruction and Mining Equipment Distributorships’ (CMED) has turned the corner post the global financial crisis, but performance was impacted by lumpy mining sector demand and weak demand from the construction industry
oPassenger and Commercial Vehicles delivered another pleasing operating performance underpinned by annuity contracts, value-added services and the resumption of leasing asset growth
oIndustrial Equipment performed well in South Africa despite a strong yen. United Kingdom (UK) forklift operations delivered a good performance with increased market share in a difficult market
