Industrial Equipment

The Industrial Equipment division provides distribution, leasing, rental and value-added services for industrial, materials handling and agricultural equipment in South Africa, various other African countries, the UK and Ireland.

The division primarily services blue chip clients in a wide range of sectors. These span retail, manufacturing, ports and container handling, mining, warehousing, airports, fast-moving consumer goods and agriculture.

The division is the largest supplier of forklifts to the South African market (37% market share) and has the largest product support infrastructure in the region.

The division achieves value creation and a competitive advantage through high-quality aftermarket services. Client engagement is proactively handled at various levels through multi-tier relationships. Service support meetings are held at least monthly with key clients.

The core business of the division is the sale, rental and aftermarket support of forklift equipment. Expansion of the division has been from this base and is driven by a clear strategic focus – offering clients a total materials handling solution to meet their requirements.

In line with this model, the division has supplemented its offering of forklift equipment with value-added services and products such as batteries and chargers for forklifts, industrial cleaning equipment for client’s premises and more recently, the supply of compressed air.

The growth of the division’s business into the agriculture sector was driven by the potential to leverage relationships built with agriculture sector clients during forklift sales to enter the high-volume tractor business.

In identifying expansion opportunities, the division targets globally recognised brands only. The division’s range of cleaning equipment, for example, is sourced from Hako, the premier European cleaning equipment manufacturer. Due to the investment made in aftermarket support, the division targets only exclusive distributorships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Toyota Forklift

Toyota Forklift is the sole distributor of Toyota, BT and Raymond material handling equipment in southern Africa. In addition, the company markets an extensive range of quality materials handling accessories. Distribution and service is carried out through branches in the main centres with depots and dealers complementing the southern Africa network.

Impact Handling (UK)

Impact Handling, based in Nottingham, is the sole distributor for Cat® Lift Trucks for the whole of the UK and Ireland. Impact is also main agent for some of the world’s other best known materials handling brands such as Kalmar, Combi-lift, Lancer, Narrow Aisle Flexi, Mobicon and JLG. This combination of brand leading material handling products enables Impact to provide a “one stop shop” in terms of product supply and after sales service.

Eqstra Industrial Power (EIP)

EIP is a leader in the distribution of industrial power and cleaning equipment where superior brands go hand in hand with a host of value-added services. Its product offering includes Hako Clean Ahead and Hawker Power products and a complete after-sales solution.

Clarklift

Clark invented the forklift truck in 1917 and is therefore the most experienced forklift manufacturer in the world. In addition to the Clarklift brand, this business unit also distributes the well-known and innovative JCB Teletruk range, renowned for its cutting edge technology.

Eqstra Agricultural Equipment

This business unit distributes the Same Deutz-Fahr agricultural equipment range of tractors and combine harvesters and also provides expert after-sales service and support.

Eqstra Heavy Lift

This business unit distributes and provides after sales support the following brands of industrial heavy lifting and port equipment:

Terex - All and rough terrain cranes as well as crawler cranes.
Konecranes - a complete range of advanced lifting solutions to many different industries.
Broderson - Industrial and rough terrain cranes.
Terberg - one of the world’s leading manufacturers of terminal tractors.
